Now that Aprilia have announced a 'budget' version of their RSV4 (http://www.passionperformance.ca/motorcycle/articles/5626/), I'm wondering how many of you are planning on putting down a deposit? It has to be extremely tempting.

Fffft! No engine position adjustment? They've ruined it for me. I mean, what's the point of even bothering? I'll contentedly hold out for the Factory version. Ta.

Any idea how much?

Probably as much as they want. The Factory has been selling well and has entered the supply vs. demand zone that benefits a manufacturer. Apparently the BMW S1000R has also done extremely well on pre-orders alone.

I haven't seen retail pricing or standard equipment lists on the S1000RR, but I hear it's very competitively priced - possibly less than a CBR1000RR with ABS, or about the same as an R1 without ABS. Still more than a GSX-R1000 by a few hundred dollars, close enough to be extremely attractive.

I wish I was younger.

Geez - "just" 140hp in road mode.

That's a pretty bike, made even prettier by the style with which Max Biaggi handles it around the WSBK circuit.

Pricing for the 2010 BMW S1000RR is as follows:

MSRP $16,800
Race ABS - $1,250
Race ABS with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) $1,500 (best deal)
Electronic Shift Assistant $350
Anti-Theft Alarm System $250

You know - with the limited amount of riding I did this summer, I could get away with an all out SS bike versus my beloved VFR. A buddy of mine just imported a brand new 08 CBR1000RR from Colorado - for a whopping $7200 USD plus GST at the border and a safety from Canadian Tire. Thats an incredible deal on a wicked bike.

But - my VFR is still way more machine than I'll ever test the limits of, so I'll likely stay put with it. I've now got the new Ohlins rear shock on, and some new Ractech fork springs - might do some gold valves this winter to finish the suspension off.

Hope I do more than 2,000km next season!!

That new Ape is beautiful!!

Sure, or you could hold out for the new V4 VFR (http://www.passionperformance.ca/motorcycle/articles/5668/). I can guarantee that VFR fans are going to lose their minds when they see the newest model in the flesh.

Well - I hate to say it but the first responses from the VFR loyal are not favourable. Based on the response over on VFRDiscussion.com - the new bike is not what they want.

however - I like the look, and the displacement. I'm going to try to get a test ride reserved with my friends at Ready Honda as soon as they get one in.

I'm far from a racer and this bike would be absolutely perfect for me. I love my 02 VFR - but this new one seems to have some K Bike in it, as well as some CBR1000. I like it!!

Honda is really on to something with their new VFR, all right. A big, fast, slightly porky sport tourer is just what their line-up needs. Too bad about the name, though. A bike like that deserves a sexier name, like Blackbird!
