The concept is there but the price and choice of bike leads me to wonder.

Looks a little like they're trying to reinvent the wheel. I'm wondering how well a hugger over a knobbie tire would work. Mud anyone?

They also mentioned "unrivalled clearance" but I couldn't find any numbers. And wouldn't you think that running an exhaust underneath a "mixed terrain touring machine's" motor is a little suspect?

$16.5k for a Ducati 695 with grafted on dirt parts seems right; you'd certainly have the only one of its kind on your block. Looks like it could be a fun ride.

Wish I was there for the filming of their "it ain't heavy" video. The first thing out of my mouth would have been, "OK, now put it back in the truck!" 395 lbs. is not by my estimation a light off-road bike.

Well, that settles it then. CC will have to order one up for me so I can help answer all of your concerns.

I saw a photo a few years back of an SV650 that an Australian guy turned into a dirt bike. The guy did a really good job of it. It looked way more dirt orientated than the V-Strom.

Met a guy from Washington state who had an old CX650 Honda, the Guzzi type V motor. He was handy with a welder etc and cut the whole front end from a KTM and welded it at the steering head onto the Honda. Looked like a half decent back roads bike but I'm sure the weight of it would keep him off single track stuff.

The one I saw was yellow and had spoked wheels. Looked similar to this one.
