I wonder if they will ever be able to harness the nature of power application through a rheostat, with the same effectiveness that can be done through carburetion and FI control of an internal combustion engine? Electric torque is just so in your face and like... right now. Like, electric exhibits peak torque upon initial turn. Peak torque happens at the moment the electric motor actually starts to turn.
So while there is no doubt about top speed ability, or outright power and the ability to spin 'er up, I am less than convinced that it would make a good racer.

And of course as a personal ride, I'm afraid I am spoiled for the visceral perks of hearing your fav IC engine configuration's exhaust and intake notes.

Funny you should mention the Mission One bike. I just watched a (short, teasing, wholly unsatisfactory) video of the bike they're running in the TTXGP on June 12th. on the Isle of Man circuit.

Go to: www.thekneeslider.com and scroll down a few stories to the Mission One entry. The link to the video is at the end of the entry.

I agree with you, RC, about the torque. Great fun when you can use it judiciously, a potential hazard under less than favourable conditions.

I don't know fellas. That is WOT torque. Apply less throttle, get less torque, no? Ever use a hand drill? Or drive a golf cart?

Yes, electric motors can make peak torque at 0 rpm. But they dont *have* too.

Personally, I think that torque curve could be pretty entertaining. And maybe even fast, once a talented racer got accustomed to it.
