I know that we all have our bike batteries stowed somewhere in the basement and our rides are lubed up and ready for the spring but, geezes, there must be some Canadian out there who is doing more than just hibernating. Don`t tell me that at least on of us has not been down to see his bank manager to finance a MV Augusta F4 or better still a Triumph Daytona for the summer.
Isn`t there a snowbird out there in Texas who rides his `74 Honda 400 supersport to the golf course everyday to cheer me up. Or some contractor, mining somewhere in Australia, who has a tale to tell about racing the local squids on his R6 Rossi Replica.
Man I live in Northern Ontario and I`m frozen cock stiff and so is my bike.

(unfortunately, I don't think all the photos come up unless you're a member, and signed in...if you can't see 'em, just imagine a group of bikes and riders parked overlooking the Pacific on the west coast of Vancouver Island...it's dry and sunny, but you notice that all the riders are wearing full cool-weather gear...)

Me, I have to put "Icers" on my boots to walk the dogs, just now.

I've had to stop into my office this morning. I'm looking out at two kids tobogganing on the two story high snowplow banks at the edge of our parking lot. It's -21C without considering the brisk wind. The van tires were frozen to the floor of the garage this morning.

I am, however, eagerly anticipating the arrival of an OEM Suzuki V-Strom topcase from some shop in New Hampshire I got on ebay.

That teeny-tiny spark of light way off in the distance that represents motorcycling is growing infinitesimally brighter.

Man those kids look cold - but they're having fun.

Gentle horses sleep,
Heartbeat awaits, a promise.
Winter layers mock.

Friday night we are filling the wine-skin with chokecherry sherry, and going night skiing. Saturday, we are trying out my new fave 2-stroke; the power ice-auger. I hear the perch are biting, and I have a new recipe for popcorn-perch. MMMmmmmmm. Tonight, I will fit the new 2 into 1 for the Purple Rat.

Thus, winter shall be endured, and enjoyed.
