View Full Version : My ride to the snowmobile show !
Well it is a very different vibe at a Sled Show This one had the feel
of the Jan super show .
Alot of clothing and clearence items and aftermarket ad ons .I did notice way more familys and kids at the show compared to the bike one .More kids can get on a sled earlier and ride because less balance is needed .
It was neet to see this side of it .
I had a good ride down to the show but man it was cold when I left at 630.By the time I was in Barrie I was trying to tuck my girth behind the little Screen on the Daytona To little success I might add.lolol
I guess that was it for the night rides -7 by the time I got home and found out I have 2 Belley bottons now !!!!!!!!
Might just try to stick another day ride in up here though, for I just cannot seem to get myself to winterize them yet .
By the way the lid I grabbed from work a Gmax 68s proved to be a good choice I might have to change out the cheek pads to smaller ones but overall Im really liking the comfort and function.
Till next time or a thaw out ,,,,Toz

You are a die-hard. I rode yesterday and although it was a nice day for the middle of October, I was getting a little cold when I got home. I used to ride all I could 20 years ago, but my arthritic old body starts to hurt with - temperatures. The little 500 Interceptor developed a slight miss about 1/2 way home, after giving it a little leg stretching. I thought best to put it away for the winter, and it will get a complete going over in the early spring. I have some parts ordered for my wifes 650 Maxim, and will order the rest as needed in March. We will be ready to go for May 2009. I hope it is a short winter.

It's supposed to snow here in Groundhog City tonight. I'm holding off 'til after our annual Ball-Freezer run on Nov. 15 to put the Thrasher into drydock.
it's a snowy affair sometimes, but one last futile middle finger to Mother Nature makes me feel better about winter storage. >8/
hope its a short winter too Oldfart
and that the 500 has something small you can fix easily.
Good luck with that Nov ride Metal.
If its just a day thing no worries but if your staying out after dark get some hyeated gear for sure BRRRRRRRRRRR!
Cheers Toz

On Saturday morning I rode down to meet a friend in Brampton and then we both rode down to TO for the Ski Show at the CNE. Free parking near the show made the ride worth it and my wife was safe in the knowledge that I would not make any large purchases.
It was a little cool in the early morning when we left, but the ride home was beautiful. Since I live in Orangeville my trip home had to include a run through the Forks.

Between the heated vest & grips I don`t usually put the Duc to bed until the first salt goes down, tho`the shorter days limit how far I can get to while the sun is still up. I ride the SR all winter. I`m not crazy....I only go out for a ride if the roads are dry. Temp isn`t too much of a big deal (sometimes you just have to stop more often to warm up), tho`I won`t be setting any distance records. Coldest I`ve been out was -40 (oil froze in the SR`s frame & I burnt out a cam & piston, live & learn huh?).

It has been snowing off & on here today. Yee-frickin-haw.
I used to stud up the ol' Can-Am 400 Qualifier and run on the Blindman River in the winter when I was younger. Those days are GONE!:confused::(

I rode to Niagara on Sunday afternoon - clear, dry, pleasant ride, with the heated grips on about half way and the vest on all the way.
I came back last night, two and a half hours in the rain, non-stop (except for the speed trap five minutes from home), underscoring my need for a better jacket. The heated grips and vest did yeoman's duty, but my poor old jacket, and crappy gloves let the water in eventually. I decided the wet wasn't impairing my riding, so kept going, figuring that stopping and removing wet gear at a Timmy's or somewhere like that might be worse.
I think I'll be spending my allowance on some gear at the various bike shows this year.
I took the QEW - 403 - 401 - 400 home. The only crazy traffic, as always, was at the 400/401 interchange.
