Is it just me, or does it seem that whenever I jump into a thread it turns out to be the 'Kiss of Death' and there are no other responses ? I mean, lookin' over my (short) history that would seem to be the case. Wow, who knew huh? I think I've discovered an entirely new and annoying character flaw! Sorry boys & girls, will try to pick up my game in the future.....That, or my replies are sooo concise and informed that anyone attempting to add on becomes intimidated, nay, dumbstruck at the thought of following such a cyber-onslaught?
One other quickie. Why is it that whenever I search for motorcycle rides (looking for like-minded sport type folks) all I can find are toy runs and the like? Aren't there any sport-bike groups riding on a regular basis (Eastern Ontario/Quebec/Northern New England)? Not your garden variety 'nutters', just folks with a healthy dose of self-preservation and an inclination for twisty bits.

What I find even more depressing is starting what I think is an interesting/controversial thread -- like http://www.passionperformance.ca/community/forum/showthread.php?t=84 -- and getting one or two, or even zero responses.
I've given up trying to figure it out and am reduced to taking potshots at Harley's...

It can seem that way when there's less than a dozen active posters in the forum. Intimidated? Not likely with this crowd. I get the same sort of response on a local mototcycle forum where my posts seem to be the last ones in a thread. I was concerned for a bit but then realized I was getting concerned about interactions on a web forum... looking for validation from a bunch of folks I don't know. In the big scheme of things, it just doesn't matter, So as far as ending threads in here, I'd chalk it up to folks just not having much to add to what you're saying. I haven't checked, but are you asking questions that need to be answered or just stating info that folks can go, "uh huh" and leave at that with no response needed. Another reason for the slow response is the time of year. It's summer and we're supposed to be out riding, planning a ride, wrenching on a bike for a ride, recovering from a ride... and all but the last reduce the amount of time spent surfing the Passion Performance eerrr... Cycle Canada web forum.

Can't help ya there. If you make it out to the west, I can hook ya up with a few to go riding with. :D

I've had that feeling too, then I went back and looked at what I wrote. I realized that I hadn't left much of an opening for continuing dialogue (as suggested by SBC above). Either that or I'd been drinking and sounded like an ass. Not that you sound like an ass! On the contrary, I enjoyed your recent burble into the café in, um, Vermont, was it? And the fictitious recounting of the event by, um, I forget, but he posts regularly... Bottoms up!

If you can be patient, my wife has plans for me to retire to Hudson, QC, asap, but it will likely be a couple of years until the kids are finished the part of school I've accepted responsibility for. Until then my two-wheeled conveyance to La belle province is an LT, good enough for a limited level of twisties, but not a 748, except in my dreams. Upon arrival, and assuming the 10-year-old VTR still resides in my garage (or has been replaced by a more worthy steed) I would be glad to join you on a romp to and through the townships and on to the Green Mountains, etc. I've only done them by car, and am determined to ride them one day. Your patience is appreciated.

Hang on Spock, I had the title first! And here I thought it was just me. It is so good to know others feel the same.
Ok, that's it. I'm not responding to this thread anymore. We've all killed it.;)

Have a look at how many threads I have ended.
Sometimes it just means you have said all there is to be said and no further discussion is needed.
Sometimes it just means they have gone somewhere else to talk about you ;-)

of what happens is actually happening to you. The rest of it is your response to it.
You guys all write nice. Stuff that is entertaining and worthwhile reading. (Some more than others, and some whose preoccupations are more aligned with specific others' than others, than others, than others...)
My favourite posters on this forum are RickO, for his sagacity; Metalredneck for his suicidal cynicism; TimP for his optimistic wit and his fearless willingness to be shot at; Spocko, who is perpetually stuck in his rut of perceived worthlessness; and a dozen or so others who it would be boring to go into detail about. But if you want an honourable mention, please file a request.
All of this may be what MRN would probably call mental masturbation. But what else have we got? None of what I see you all write is boring!

Nobody said a circle jerk was boring, just maybe a bit redundant. But ask an airline pilot, redundant systems are all the rage. As for being a threadkiller, there may be worse fates. Like starting a thread about Harleys, Beemers, Scooters, Whizzers, Francis-Barnetts, what-have-you.
Such is the fate of the computer motorcyclist. >:/

I guess when you reply to every thread, you get to kill a few.

You have also just established a record for the number of posts written in a single day. I haven't read them all yet. How many cups of coffee did that take?
You write nice, H. Articulate and interesting. Just what this forum needed to give it some new life. Sometimes I think that the guys here know each other so well that what the other guy says is often predictable. That's good too: it's nice to know from whom to get the answers to your questions. But stagnation on a forum or in a marriage runs the risk of turning into rigor mortis. We have seen rigor here, but not quite yet mortis.
I claim the right to kill this thread....
