Once again Canada gets a bike that's not available in USA!

However the recently announced the 2012 1000 cc 4 cylinder Versys is; 72 pounds heavier, 4" longer wheelbase, more license losing power, much higher cost to purchase, higher insurance cost, lower fuel mileage. No thanks, I'll keep my 650.

I haven't ridden one yet, but they look like a good platform for a comfortable "all day" bike. I have a 650 naked bike now and there are times a few more ponies would be nice. I'm sure they'll do well as us older farts look for something with a bit of thrill without having to contort ourselves onto a Super Sport.

I had to sort out a few things, as we do on most bikes. I raised the front of the seat to stop the forward slide of "the boys" into the gas tank, I lowered the footpegs with readily available part and extended the mirrors for better view.

There are many things that can be done to make this bike into anything you want it to be; adventure, sport touring, "street fighter", commuter etc. Many aftermarket suppliers make it easy to do whatever your heart and wallet desire.

I like the upright stance for all day comfort, the light weight and wide bars plus a 55" wheelbase make for quick handling and great maneuverability. 65 hp is enough, I always seem to do the ton at least once per ride, but with no fairing I seem to average in the 100~115 kph range whereas on my Connie I was always catching myself cruising at 130.
