Any direct reviews of these two bikes, or life experience of both of them? I'm kinda torn on buying either one right now, Good FJRs seem hard to find, and the Concours is old tech, but at a good price.
Anyone with both bikes care to share your feelings on them?

FJR has a much improved and higher tech chassis. This won't come into play much if you are a relatively sedate rider. Even if you get aggressive occasionally the Concours will still deliver within reason. But if you put both on a race track the FJR will feel the best. FJR has bigger tires and more choice.
Concours has a little courser engine. Certainly not nearly as powerful but no slouch either if you have ever ridden one. It will lose depreciation the quickest if you buy and find yourself reselling right away. Its not as hot to ride as the FJR. Has smaller storage but longer range because petrol tank is bigger.
One is high/recent tech. The other is proven/older tech. A used 1000 should be considerably less money than the 1300. If it isn't, hold out on your search for the FJR. Why only those two bikes? There are also many other potentially good choices in sport tourers.
Phone your insurer to compare rates if you are still undecided.

thanks for the replies, but I've talked myself out of this model. Still shopping, no rush.

A buddy of mine just bought one of these, a 2003 model for a song. Just tried it out about an hour ago, only 40 km, but here is my initial opinion; It is big and fast, cruises on the hwy with no issues or strain. the bars are at a good level for fast cruising, but the pegs seem just a touch high, but not bad.The engine has more grunt down low than expected, no need to rev past 4 thou when driving normal, and things get wild past 7 thou. But... I just felt it was too much. Too much weight, too much power for me. I found myself well over the limit too often, the bike just feels better going faster than I should be driving. Maybe its just me, but my next bike will more along the lines of a 500 Ninja. Half the displacement, half the horsepower and a lot lighter sounds just right to me.
