I have been on the phone all week with some of the vendors as well as some new ones that I chatted with at the Show in TO today. So as it stands we have enough vendors already to make it a cool little gathering again.
Im just curious to see if the town NOW changes thier minds because of the amount of interest that has been posted here and on other boards .
I guess I will send them a promo bill lolololo.
Man that would be just too much !
Our meeting is Tuesday with the riders will post after the meeting .
A shout out to some of the Blacktop riders I met today .It was a great day for a ride and I was in the van with family going to the show .
Its Ok got the kids some riding pants .
Cheers Toz

I can say more after the Tuesday meeting .
I also have the other meeting with Huntsville this week.
Going to Parry Sound right now to chat with some of the people there involved in the planning.
This is what we have to weigh out ,
Does the Rally need to be in Parry Sound ?
Will Moving it to Huntsville breath fresh life into it ?
What about alternating dates between the towns ?
This would Keep it fresh every other year.
Since the town basicly gave up on it does it deserve to have it back?
Keeping it basic is the easyest thing for the Rally .
This would all be back out of Folley{if in Parry Sound}
1.Meet and greet Friday
Vendors row set up already or setting up
Designated info spot or HQ if you like .
Maps of the area for riders unfamiliar with the region.
Night time bench racing manditory.
2.Saturday Scavengerhunt ,4:00 dinner Folley.
6:00 line up for the Thunder Run .
CHEAP AWARDS DONE RIGHT at the end of the run.
3.Sunday breaky at Folley Safe ride home .
Any spaces or time slots left open fill in with ridding with your mates ..
sounds simple to me .
Cheers Toz

Sounds like the old rally and that is perfect to me!
( I will stay in town at a motel and spend my days at Foley. No camping for this old rider. )

Just an update from the previous posts.
The local riders from the Parry Sound area have rallied to reform the defunct group, Georgian Bay Motorcycle Association. We will be hopefully working in concert with Lawrence Hacking to ensure the rally continues this year and is a success.
There currently is a proposal before the Town of Parry Sound submitted by Lawrence to assume the rally working with the newly reformed association. The details are scetchy and few at the moment but updates will be posted as they are made available. We will know more regarding the town's stand on the event after next tuesdays council meeting.
Ride safe and keep the shiny side up!

The Meeting -
Good turn out of local riders who are keen on keeping the SBR going in ParrySound.
A group was formed Georgian Bay Motorcycle Association {name still being tweeked }
This group of local riders will be helping with the Rally . These are people that are in it for the love of the sport, trust me I know them.
Ideas were thrown around some questions were answered by Lynn from the town {EDO} Oh yes Lynn, John says Hi! and the offer to take you for a ride still stands ,I know you love bikes.
Sorry group couldnt resist...
So the town wants it to go on with no funds from the town thrown into the pot ,thats fine as some have mentioned people will be comming anyway.
Bringing it back to the "Grass Roots" is the easiest and simplist form to run the event .Letting the riders make their own weekend of it with a couple of the old events still happening if they want to participate, if not a great area to enjoy a weekend ride around.
Volenteers might get paid for there time if helping out with the rally. That would help covering gas costs and time from the promoter.
I have called all the vendors that I have talked to in the past week and let them know that the Georgian Bay group along with Lawrence will be doing a presentation to the town next week to run the Rally .
The overall feel by the vendors was very positive as long as they are kept in the loop because the Rally date is comming up fast .
The Georgian Bay group have stepped up for this and are determind to keep it going .
So out of confusion comes stability . Putting the Rally back in with RIDERS involved in all aspects is a formula for success and many more years of tradition .
Things have to get passed on Tuesday at town council ,im sure Brian will be keeping everyone up to speed on the out come .
Think happy thoughts !

A website is in the works for the group... just as soon as we ratify the name.
Update will be posted as information is made available.
Morning everyone !
Hang on I need a cup of Joe before typing .BRB
Ok ,so then let me put this into a neat little package and give you my update on the Rally .I will condense things a bit too.
The town meeting .
Went well ,town realizing more consideration was needed before the cancelation was posted ,Cool they get it now .
Lawrence has put it all on his plate, its his gig now and after a few very LIVELY chats with him he assured me the continuation of the Rally is secured for the next couple of years .
We tend to agree to disagree in a positive way but there is always 2 sides to a story and I sometimes have a 3rd. Its all good anyways now.
He owes me his next test bike!
The ParrySound Group
Hats off to this group of riders for stepping up to the plate .
The feeling of responsibility to keep the Rally going no matter what is very evident .
Some times you need a good sturring to get the cream to rise .
In a nut shell
The Rally lives on ,rider input will be heard ,and the history of the gathering continues.
Make it what you want, come out and enjoy the scenery and the roads .There are alot of good ones just outside the area that alot of people dont know about , more than just the immediate ones if it gets too hot.
Im off again for a ride ,looking forward to seeing you up here .
All the best,, your official pot sturrer ,hehe Toz
Post above is pasted

So there I am making a pizza and who walks in with a huge smirk,, Lawrence Hacking,,, we kind of just chuckled at each other and had a laugh without even saying anything .
After I finished dressing the pizza we went outside did the 20 paces and took care of our differences .
He's not that good a shot so he has a limp now .
But seriously we talked for almost 90 min just about the Rally and the direction it will go and the future of the event .
We chatted alot about the vibe and feel of the Rally and just threw some ideas around .
Lawrence is up here doing a Honda shoot close by my place tomorow and he is meeting Saturday with the ParrySound group to let them in on a few things he has cooking up.
One of the events will be a Haggis eating contest with Mike Maloney ,I thought that was a great idea but only if Greg Mclure joined us as well for a right good smack bottom ...
Battle of the Haggis!! I can see it now . we were thinking of Sumo suits but we might have to settle for 3XL depends with some stuffing.
Ok im off , had a pint can you tell .
The Bikes ,The Roads ,The People ,The Party
Its all good .

I just confirmed with Jordan Szoke, multi-time Canadian Road Race Champion that he will be on hand either Friday and Saturday evenings or maybe both to sign autographs, hand out posters and describe what it is like to ride a Moto GP bike. How cool is that?
I also confirmed with Max Burns, noted moto-jouralist, author and bon vivant that he will be on hand either Friday or Saturday evenings or maybe both to sign autographs, hand out posters and describe what it is like to ride a 1982 Yamaha Maxim 750 in the winter across Northern Ontario wearing fleece underwear. How cold is that?
Stay tuned for more news....
